Control Systems

Lombardstown Mill has been a customer of ours since the Mid 1980s and has had numerous additions and upgrades during that time. The Mill control system was completely upgraded 4 years ago. The system is based on 8 Mitsubishi PLCs integrated with a PC server network with a redundant server and 20 PC control system network with a fibre optic backbone and full UPS backup. Plant I/O is connected using Wago distributed Field modules with Profibus communications to PLC. The system has integrated labelling on both packing lines, which will automatically produce on-line labels for the product currently being packed. There is integration to Format Lest Cost Formula system and links to customers ERP, which is common to all 3 Mills. We will be installing an energy monitoring and control package at this Plant in the near future. This will give information on energy usage at various sections of the Plant and provide facilities to control overall usage.

Mitchelstown Mill solely produces Pig Feeds for the group. They have been a customer since the early 1980’s. The system consists of windows based PCIM Scada integrated with InFeed600 MES software, connecting to 3 PLCs for Plant control.

New Inn Plant has been a customer of ICM since 2004. This plant is grain drying and storage only. We have a small Scada system installed, which controls and monitors this process.

Each bag of feed produced is labelled with its own unique label detailing manufacturer data, product name, manufacturing order number, batch/run number, bag number, pack size, ingredients, and nutrient information, feeding instructions, date of manufacture and best before date.
